Darren has been a proactive promoter of the need to improve safety within workplaces. He was involved with a diverse range of New Zealand industry players in a forum lead by the Independent Taskforce to review health and safety. He has completed training with IOSH, is on the Nelson NZISM Committee and previously trained in-shore fishing vessel crews in the FishSAFE programme. This programme reputedly reduced the incidence of new claims by 51% (ACC) during its lifecycle.
